Similar name and branding contribute to the confusion.
Is NOT part of the government. It is the association of private construction companies building the project.
Crosslinx is actually 3 separate legal entities:
Crosslinx Transit Solutions Design
Crosslinx Transit Solutions Construction
Crosslinx Transit Solutions Maintenance
Is the provincial government agency responsible for transit planning and operations in the Greater Toronto Hamilton Area (GTHA)
Their responsibilities include GO Transit, UP Express, PRESTO, the Ontario Line, and more.
This is a complex intersection. Even before construction began, there have been numerous accidents due to usage conflicts between pedestrians, cyclists, motorists, buses, ambulances, and fire trucks. Consider:
The Ambulance Station
The Fire Station
A mid-intersection 3-way pedestrian crossing island
Offset intersection boundaries on the East side with duplicated markings
A mid-intersection turning lane from Eglinton to Gilgorm
Offset bus stop location
A cross-traffic entrance to Gilgorm Rd from Chaplin beside the Ambulance station.
Residents are concerned that proposed additions like a taxi stand on Gilgorm and new busway from Chaplin to Gilgorm may create additonal confusion, usage conflicts, and hazards at this already complex intersection.
Construction impacts include:
Overnight work
Vibration & shaking
Running water turns dark brown
Loss of electricity, phone, water, and internet service
Drilling noise, "pounding"
Rerouting of car and pedestrian traffic, closing of streets and walkways
Relocation of bus service
Occupying space in front of stores and local businesses
Some construction impacts continue 24 hours a day, including the vibration from tunnel boring machines
January 2022 Update: We have now received an updated full rendering of the station plans, showing all station entrances, streetscaping, traffic configuration (incl. bike lanes), and plans for the Chaplin Station parkette. Thank you to Katherine and Phil from Metrolinx for helping to coordinate this.
